Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Hybrid FPGA Designer to join our dynamic Hardware Engineering team in Freiburg. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and verifying complex FPGA-based systems for cutting-edge applications in areas such as advanced driver-assistance systems, industrial automation, and IoT devices. You will be involved in the full FPGA development lifecycle, from requirements definition and architecture design to implementation, simulation, and post-silicon validation. This hybrid role requires a strong understanding of both hardware design principles and software integration, enabling seamless co-design and optimization.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

  • Architect, design, and implement complex FPGA solutions using VHDL/Verilog for high-performance embedded systems.
  • Perform detailed logic design, synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and power optimization.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive verification strategies, including simulation, formal verification, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, system architects, test engineers) to define requirements and ensure successful system integration.
  • Support board bring-up, debug, and validation of new hardware platforms.
  • Write technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user guides.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in FPGA technology and design methodologies.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

  • Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog for RTL design.
  • Extensive experience with FPGA development toolchains (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus Prime).
  • Strong understanding of digital design principles, clock domain crossing, and timing constraints.
  • Experience with simulation and verification methodologies (e.g., UVM, SystemVerilog).
  • Knowledge of embedded processor architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M/R/A) and their integration into FPGAs.
  • Familiarity with standard communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, PCIe).
  • Experience with hardware debugging tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-speed serial interfaces (e.g., JESD204B, MIPI, LVDS).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Tcl) for automation.
  • Experience in functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) or security aspects for embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of DSP algorithms and their implementation in FPGAs.
  • Prior experience in automotive, industrial automation, or medical device industries.
