Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Glassblower with a strong artisan focus to join our dedicated team at Fribourg Crystalworks. This role is perfect for an individual who possesses exceptional technical mastery, an artistic eye, and a deep appreciation for traditional glassblowing methods combined with a modern aesthetic. The successful candidate will be instrumental in creating intricate and beautiful glass pieces, contributing to our legacy of craftsmanship and innovation. This is an on-site position requiring hands-on work in our Fribourg studio.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Execute complex glassblowing techniques including free-blowing, mold-blowing, and lampworking to produce high-quality artistic and functional glass objects.
• Collaborate with designers and clients to translate conceptual designs into tangible glass creations, ensuring artistic vision and technical feasibility.
• Prepare and maintain glass furnaces, glory holes, annealers, and other essential glassblowing equipment.
• Manage and control glass temperatures, viscosity, and color application throughout the blowing process.
• Perform finishing processes such as grinding, polishing, and etching as required for specific pieces.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the hot shop and cold shop.
• Assist in the training and mentorship of junior glassblowers or apprentices.
• Ensure all finished products meet Fribourg Crystalworks' stringent quality standards.
• Participate in the design and prototyping of new glass products and art installations.

• Proven expertise in various glassblowing techniques, including free-blowing and precision shaping.
• Strong understanding of glass properties, behavior, and chemistry.
• Exceptional manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail.

• Commitment to safety protocols and best practices in a hot shop environment.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in French or German is a strong asset.

• Experience with advanced decorative techniques such as casing, murrine, or cane work.
• Portfolio demonstrating a range of complex and artistic glass creations.
